Dell Finally Realises That Size Does Matter

By Branko Miletic | Friday | 11/04/2008

In an interview two days ago, Dell Computers founder and CEO Michael Dell said that his company would be releasing a low-cost mini-notebook to compete with HP’s 2133 and Asus’s Eee PC in the near future.

According to Dell, the laptop would be geared towards the education market and will probably cost around $AUD500.

"We do see opportunities for very interesting products that are smaller and lighter and address the more mobile users in a very cost-effective way," Dell said.

These comments seem to be in response to Austek sales figures which showed that the company so far has sold over 400,000 EEPC's and reports that Acer plans to roll out a low-cost system that will be even more affordable than Asustek Computer's Eee PC.

No firm date was given for the release for the proposed new Dell mini-PC.
