The Aspire 8920 G (18.4-inch) and Aspire 6920 (16-inch) are part of Acer's new Gemstone Blue series of entertainment notebooks that is equipped with noteworthy hardware specifications (Intel Centrino processor, 3GB of RAM, 320GB HDD, and Nvidia 950M GS graphics card), six integrated speakers, Blu-ray disc drive, and a TFT screen that can display movies in 1080p. The series even comes with a ‘CineDash' media console – a touch sensitive control panel situated on the left of the keyboard that lets users easily navigate all media menus such as volume, music, and movies, says Acer.

Acer's Senior Product Manager for the Oceanic Region, Henry Lee said, "What Acer has created is a new benchmark in notebook technology, demonstrating how standard screen resolutions for the computer and the consumer electronics industries are beginning to merge. The Gemstone Blue series is adopting the consumer electronics standard by providing a screen with the same resolution as a top of the line HDTV; 1920x1080 pixels."
