By Branko Miletic | Thursday | 17/04/2008

Trend Micro has announced that it is extending its relationship with Cisco by integrating Trend Micro Web security services into the Cisco Integrated Services Router (ISR) platform.

The Cisco IOS Content Filtering solution is designed to deliver real-time, in-the-cloud, global Web filtering data feeds onto Cisco ISRs.  This solution will provide small businesses, educational institutions, branch offices and retailers with a cost-effective way to protect themselves from Web-based threats and enforce acceptable use policies for Web traffic.

It monitors and regulates all Web activities by blocking or restricting access to certain Web sites.

By using Trend Micro's global network of research, service and support centers, the two companies say they will be better able to help businesses mitigate the risks of unrestricted Internet use.

Network administrators can use the router management tool to set security policies using keywords or one, or more, of 80-plus categories to limit Internet access.

Cisco IOS Content Filtering will be available as an optional subscription service for the Cisco 800, 1800, 2800, and 3800 Series Integrated Services Routers. The offering will be sold and supported by Cisco and its authorised channel partners.
