  Seagate Extends Data Storage Line-up

By Mendelson Tiu | Thursday | 06/09/2007

Seagate Technology has expanded its storage line-up with the announcement of nine new products, which the company says focuses on data security and increased capacity to meet the explosive worldwide demand for all types of digital content.

Among the new products are new Maxtor storage solutions that provide simple and automatic backup, encryption and a "bare metal system restore" – all featuring updated industrial designs.

Seagate has also announced the first 1 terabyte (TB) hard drive with full disc encryption for strong data security; capacity increases of up to 60GB for the Seagate D.A.V.E. (Digital Audio Video Experience) technology platform, and up to 1TB for its DB35 Series hard drives for DVRs and home media centres, as well as the SV35 Series digital video surveillance hard drive.

CEO of Seagate, Bill Watkins said, "The explosive growth in digital devices, applications and content is breathtaking – and much of that growth is driven by consumers, as the home now outpaces business in terms of storage. When consumers generate highly personal, irreplaceable content, such as photos and videos, they need simple to use, comprehensive, secure storage solutions that can help safeguard that content and make it available anytime, anywhere. Security, data protection and simplicity are integral to the powerful products and solutions Seagate is delivering. From enterprise computing to consumer electronics, home entertainment, security, and mobile applications, our products make it easy for users to keep their valuable data safe, secure, and accessible."
