  B&O Does Media Centre

By Ty Pendlebury | Monday | 23/01/2006

Bang and Olufsen have the announced their new media centre PC, the BeoMedia 1, is now available in Australia.

The BeoMedia 1 features a hard disk capacity of 160GB, and is designed to interface with the television via the Beo4 remote control.

Unlike other media centres, the BeoMedia 1 is designed as a server and to be used "out of sight". It uses B&O's own front end, and not Microsoft's Media Center Edition, which B&O says makes it easier to use.

Despite this, it's still a very quiet machine, rated at a maximum of 23db. According to B&O, the dimensions of the cabinet effectively heat transfer away from the hard disc and the processor, with almost silent cooling.

The BeoMedia 1 is available now for an RRP of $3390.

Technical specs (as of Nov. 2005) include:
Fan noise Stand-by max. 20 dBA, active max. 23 dBA
