The 440 Samsung U900T handsets have been donated to the Australian Olympic team so that the team stay connected to friends and family during the Games and have access to the latest news and updates, claims Samsung.

Continuing its ongoing commitment to supporting the Oceania region, Samsung Australia is donating a further 150 Samsung U900 handsets to athletes and senior staff across 15 countries. The New Zealand Olympic team will also receive 80 Samsung J700 handsets to ensure all athletes across the Trans-Tasman stay connected with their friends and family as well.

Mr. Kevin KY Choi, Managing Director - Samsung Electronics Australia said: "Samsung's involvement in the Olympic Games is guided by the recognition of human achievement through sport. The organisation is delighted to be donating handsets to athletes and staff in Australia, Oceania and New Zealand to make sure they stay connected to their crucial support networks waiting for them back home."

Anne King from the Oceania Foundation, which is charged with spreading the sporting word through education and sporting excellence throughout the Pacific region, was on hand to accept the phone on behalf of the athletes.

"The mobile phone donation will give a huge boost to the region's athletes – the Samsung U900 will let them record Olympic moments in both photo and video to take back home," said King
