Struggling phone Company Sony Ericsson is facing further delays for their Xperia X1 mobile phone which is intended to compete with the Apple iPhone with some insiders saying that it will not appear untill early in 2009 due to problems associated with the Windows Mobile operating system.

The Windows 6.1 operating system does not work as planned on the handset according to Company insiders with many now questioning as to whether a Windows Mobile operating system will ever be able to compete with the iPhone Mac OSX being used on the iPhone.

"Another big problem for the Company is that even if we deliver the new phone as scheduled there is always the problewm that it will not sell because it is a Windows based phone" said one executive.

Sony Ericsson, a joint venture between Ericsson and Sony of Japan and is the smallest of the world's top five mobile- phone makers.
