Australia To Get Microsoft Zune Phone 08?

By David Richards | Sunday | 04/02/2007

Australians won’t get a Zune player this year from Microsoft but they might get a Zune play with a phone next year. The launch will coincide with the 2008 Australian launch of the Apple iPhone.

Already several of the major phone vendors like Samsung, Motorola, iMate and others are currently using Microsoft developed phone software for their high end organiser phones because it easily connects with the Microsoft Windows desktop.

To incorporate phone software with the Zune music and video system is a logical extension of the device and one that Microsoft should have considered prior to launching the Zune.

Currently Microsoft is developing a new version of its Zune portable music and media player that doubles as a cell phone -- in direct competition to Apple's recently announced iPhone.

The new phone Zune according to insiders will be able to connect with the Xbox 360; and that it will be launched into the US market late in 2007.
