Gregan McMahon, Group Manager, Sensis Mobile said the new Whereis Navigator provides voice prompted, real time, turn-by-turn navigation for selected Telstra Next G GPS enabled mobile phones including the recently launched BlackBerry Bold and the Treo Pro by Palm.

"The upgraded Whereis Navigator service is a premium navigation product that combines leading satellite navigation with comprehensive point of interest and other content information from Sensis' Whereis mapping database, making the service one of the most intuitive in market".

Ross Fielding, Executive Director, Telstra Product Management said customers will be able to easily route to a specific street address or to one of the 600,000 points of interest available on a map– including hotels, restaurants, shopping and tourist attraction.

"The service includes a unique text-to-speech functionality meaning the device audibly announces street names and landmarks so drivers can keep their eyes on the road while driving. And, if users stray off course, Whereis Navigator will automatically recalculate the quickest way to get back on track.

"In addition to turn-by-turn directions, Whereis Navigator offers fixed speed and red-light camera warnings while driving", Fielding said.

Whereis Navigator is designed to integrate with user contacts stored in their mobile phone, routing to an address of a friend or business associate on demand. Users can also easily access weather conditions and forecast data for their current location as well as other destinations in Australia.

Unlimited access to Whereis Navigator is available for $15 a month or $4 a day.
