I-mate's JAM, which is available via Telstra, overcomes all the negatives in one fell swoop, being remarkably small and light. Even better, it's also available SIM-free or you have the option of inserting a SIM card.

The design is also appealing: the phone boasts rounded edges and is antenna-free. This allows the unit to sit snugly in a pocket or bag, and when you pull it out it won't catch on anything. Among smartphones, this is is one of the better models.
