  Nokia Extends Music Player/Phone Range

By Manisha Kanetkar | Thursday | 28/09/2006

In its ongoing bid to take a bite into the music player market, Nokia has extended its music player/mobile phone range with the new Nokia 5300, 5200 and 3250 XpressMusic handsets.

The company says the 5300 offers an audio experience "comparable to dedicated, stand-alone music players." It supports up to 2 GB of memory, has a 3.5mm adaptor to plug in external speakers or headphones as well as a micro USB connector for PC synchronization.

When traveling, you can use the Nokia Wireless Audio Gateway AD-42W to stream CD collections wirelessly to any home stereo from the 5300 or listen wirelessly via the BH-501 Bluetooth stereo headset, says Nokia.

"With today's launches we are reaching out to a broad range of people who want all the features of their mobile phone AND their music player in a single, stylish device," says Alex Lambeek, Vice President, Sales and Market Operations, Mobile Phones, Asia Pacific, Nokia.

Apart from the music functionality, the 5300 also includes a 1.3 megapixel camera. The other two phones released include the 5200 – targeted at the younger demographic and the 3250, which is an update on the original 3250. It now supports microSD cards up to 2GB.

The phones will be available at the end of this year.
