Beckham Kicks Off Motorola AIDS Campaign

By Manisha Kanetkar | Friday | 11/05/2007

Motorola and Optus have teamed up to release a range of handsets dubbed the “Moto Red” collection, which aims to raise funds to eliminate AIDS in Africa. Motorola’s global ambassador David Beckham will be promoting the collection.

The two companies will together contribute $19.80 to the Global Fund (to finance African AIDS programs) for each Red Motorazr V3 set (bundled with Motorola Bluetooth Headset H500) purchased with a plan. This product bundle is the first in a series of Moto Red handsets to be launched in Australia.

"By simply purchasing a mobile phone from the exclusive Moto (Product) Red collection - not only will the public have an incredible phone but they will be playing their role in helping eliminate a global epidemic," said Motorola's Andrew Volard.

"The Motorazr V3 mobile phone has been extremely popular with Optus Prepaid customers and therefore it was only natural for us to offer the (Product) Red Motorazr V3 – particularly as a portion of the profits will have a direct impact in Global Fund programs in Africa," said Optus' Michael Smith.

The Red initiative was founded by U2 lead singer Bono and Bobby Shriver.

RRP: The Red MOTORAZR V3 Optus bundle - $249
