Superlative two-channel music reproduction is the toughest test of an audio component, and the new HK 980 unit is said to deliver effortlessly, revealing the true strength of its technology. It illustrates a union of proven state-of-the-art technology and groundbreaking design.
With 2 x 80 Watts RMS at 8 ohms, an ultrawide-frequency response (10Hz-100kHz) and a harmonic distortion (THD) of less than 0.07 percent, the HK 980 generates sound characteristics that are distinguished by consistent sonic accuracy and phase linearity. Due to its high-current capability (±80 amps), the amplifier supplies the output needed for the precise and accurate control of nearly all stereo loudspeaker systems.
An A/B loudspeaker switch, six analog audio inputs, preamp outputs for connecting external power amplifiers, and high-quality connections for speaker cables of up to 10mm2 all round out the HK 980's features. Vinyl-record fans will particularly appreciate the high-quality phono input for connecting a record player with an MM pickup system. The HK 980's remote control also operates other Harman Kardon components, including the HD 990 CD player.
