New CD Player A Classe Act

By Caroline Warnes | Friday | 08/12/2006

The much lauded Classe CDP-202 CD player has finally arrived in Australia.

The CDP-202 is the big brother of the CDP-102, an outstanding player that won SmartHouse's CD player of the year in the recent Best Of The Best Awards.

The CDP-202 is equally impressive, scoring an outstanding 90 percent review in the highly respected UK magazine Hi-Fi Choice.

Like the 102, the 202 is a two-channel audio player. The two models were the first to offer touchscreen control and video preview on the front of the panel.

The 202 is functionally identical to the 102, but offers better audio performance, according to local distributor Convoy.

This is reflected in the retail pricing – the 102 retails for $7500 while the 202 carries a price tag of $12,000.

The 202's left and right balanced analogue audio circuits use their own digital-to-analogue converters to operate in a true double balanced mode, Convoy says, so each half of the balanced signal is converted and handled differently.
