REAL SOUND / RECEIVERS

NAD Unveils New Home Theatre Amp

By SmartHouse Team | Tuesday | 15/01/2008

NAD has released a whole new range of AV products, and its new surround sound receiver is first off the mark. The T785 packs elements of the Master range at a more affordable price.

The new receiver is a beefed up version of its predecessors, delivering a minimum of 120 watts simultaneously into all 7 channels over the whole audio frequency range, according to the company.

Designed for a home theatre set up, the receiver decodes Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital EX, Pro Logic II, Pro Logic IIx, DTS, DTS ES, DTS24/96, DTS NEO:6.

The T785 employs Texas Instruments Aureus 7.1, 32-bit dual floating point DSP technologies as well as the latest V1.3 HDMI chips from Analogue Devices. It supports a full range of video switching and cross converter technology, so all input resolutions; 576p, 720p and 1080p are supported at the output.

All analogue formats are cross converted between Composite, S-Video and Component and are also up-converted to HDMI output. The T785's HDMI inputs also support the new Multi Channel LPCM audio signals from the new HD DVD and Blu-ray players, the company says. The receiver is also equipped with Audyssey Mult EQ XT to allow you to get the best positioning for your equipment according to your room's acoustics.

Digital inputs and outputs are also available in both coaxial and optical formats including a handy front panel input. For multi-zone applications digital inputs are converted to analogue.

For listening to music in additional rooms or zones, the company says a second pair of speakers can simply be added to the front channel amplifiers and switched On or Off from the remote control or front panel switch. For more elaborate multi-zone applications, the T785 allows control over a total of 4 zones with 4 independent sources with separate volume control and assignable outputs.

The included remote will control up to 8 components, and features an LCD screen for easy viewing.

RRP: $3,499
