The CM Series of Bowers and Wilkins speakers include two new three-way floorstanders, a larger standmount model, two centre channels and a dedicated subwoofer.
The custom-built CM Series drive units offer gentle transition between drivers, which avoids the unnaturally rapid changes in dispersion that bedevil more complex designs, claims the manufacturer. The components, chosen after listening tests, try to ensure that as little as possible gets between you and the sound of the original recording.
CM9
This units is claimed to fill even domestic spaces with detailed and lifelike music. The three-way CM9 delivers commanding bass with the aid of twin 165mm paper/Kevlar cone drive units. An FST (fixed suspension transducer) driver, with its characteristic compression surround supporting the outer edge of the distinctive Kevlar cone, has been developed for outstanding midrange performance. The Nautilus tube-loaded aluminium dome tweeter keeps high frequencies crisp and sharp all the way up to 50kHz and beyond.
CM7
The CM7 produces sound that can command any medium-sized to large room, thanks to the harmony between its genuine three-way driver line-up and its first-order crossover. The speaker features a single FST driver, the outer edge of its distinctive Kevlar cone supported by the same compression surround as in the CM9. The high frequencies are handled by the Nautilus tube-loaded aluminium dome tweeter.
