Clarity Key To Segretto In-Ceiling Speakers

By Mike Wheeler | Friday | 24/10/2008

Audiovisual retailer Videopro is so impressed with the sound quality of Brisbane-based technology company CEAD’s Segretto in-ceiling speakers, it has included them as a permanent feature in its futuristic showroom the 'iiiHome'.

Segretto was a must inclusion in the $500,000 iiiHome, constructed at the Company's Fortitude Valley store to provide an insight into the future use of technology in Australian living areas.

"In the 33 years I've been in the audio industry I have never heard an invisible speaker with such clarity," Videopro Managing Director Shane Leaney said. "The response to the Segretto invisible speakers in the iiiHome has been amazing. One of the best parts about the Segretto is that it is totally invisible, easy to install and totally compliments the aesthetics of today's lifestyle."

CEAD director John Hammett said commercial and residential designers and architects had become particularly interested in Segretto speakers as they pursued the goal of quality sound without unsightly speaker grills. "Segretto can be installed in home theatres, living rooms, bedrooms, bathrooms, outdoor living areas and around pools," he said.

Mr Hammett said the technology behind Segretto was unique and based on harnessing the natural modes of vibration to reproduce high-quality sound. He said the company's research into the distributed mode behaviour of a panel to reproduce music and voice was the key to their success. "These technologies are derived from a profound understanding of bending wave physics and its applications to sound generation," he said.  "Traditional cone speakers cannot be hidden and require grills or some type of apertures to be able to function."

Quality components are used in the manufacture of the Segretto speakers, which are hand crafted in Australia and guaranteed for five years. Mr Hammett said Segretto can be easily installed during new building construction, refurbishment or into existing locations accessible by speaker cable. CEAD provides the installation using standard building techniques and materials.
