The Sony Vaio is certainly an eye-catching notebook with its classic look, small profile, and lightweight construction. But unless you are willing to spend a fortune for just one notebook, then we suggest you look elsewhere as the Vaio VGN-TZ18GN/X SSD notebook will set you back and cost you $4,299. The amount may seem steep, but this Sony Vaio has functions, features, and technologies that could make it a worthwhile purchase.
Out of the box, we noticed that the Sony Vaio gives off that sophisticated look with its brushed metallic front and silver Vaio logo. The notebook is mostly made out of premium carbon fibre, giving it its sturdiness and lightweight profile of only 1.5kg. Another thing noticeable is its small profile, with its overall dimensions only being 27.7 x 19.82 x 2.98cm.
Found on the unit's left side are two USB ports, an ExpressCard slot, an i.Link S400 (IEEE 1394) port, an Ethernet port, a Modem port, a DC IN port, and a security lock slot for added protection. Users can then find the Optical drive, VGA out port, and Power button on the Vaio's right side. In addition, users will find the Headphone Jack, Microphone Jack, Memory Stick PRO/Duo Slot, SD Card slot, Wireless Switch, several multimedia buttons (Play/pause, Stop, Previous track, Next track, and Disc eject), as well as an AV Mode button (which will be discussed in detail in the succeeding paragraphs) upfront.
