If you're tired of sci-fi movies that are all flash and no substance, then this dystopian thriller is for you.

It's not the most colourful film you'll ever see – its sombre downbeat tone is matched by a dreary and washed-out visual style. But the grim ‘n' gritty imagery still contains a surprising level of shadow detail (far more than the DVD). It's not demo material, but it is the best-looking version of the film available; though, for a new film, we were surprised to see some marks on the print near the start. On the whole, the sound mix is just as impressive, with convincing use of the surrounds for crowd scenes and atmosphere. The occasional action sequence also bursts to life in a convincing manner, although the mix gets muddier as things get more hectic in the final act.

The only new extra is a rather limited piece of Universal's U-Control tech, which flashes a small icon on the screen during the movie when additional content (such as brief picture-in-picture commentary excerpts and more detailed looks at the posters that appear in the film) can be seen. The other extras come from the two-disc DVD and comprise three deleted scenes, three production featurettes and a documentary about the film's themes.
