  Hands Off The Bathroom Mould

By Peter Diversi | Monday | 13/03/2006

Dunlop has developed anti-bacterial technology that is claimed to eliminate bacteria growth, mould and mildew from tile grout for a lifetime.

Take your hands off Mr Sheen, relax that elbow grease and cease to worry about mouldy bathrooms. Mixed into the tile grout for do-it-yourself tilers, and tradesmen for that matter, the additive called Microban is built into the molecular structure of the grout and can come in Ultra-White — for indoor use only — and a variety of colours.

The colour grouts can be used in tile joints between one and five mm, where the ultra-white is used for indoor bathrooms with tile joints between one mm and three mm. Coloured grouts designed for ceramic, porcelain, marble, granite and mosaic tiles come in 1.5, five and 15kg packs for $7.50, $17.90 and $31.50 respectively. The ultra-white compound comes in 1.5kg packs for $7.50 and five kg packs for $ 17.90. Drying time takes about 24 hours and cures fully in 14 days (depending on temperature and humidity).
