The technology in question is a low-cost GPS device (dubbed Flaik) that you strap onto your arm. The device talks to a central system back at the resort so parents can track their kids' location around the resort, while skiers can track personal performance.
"Our systems enhance the recreational snowsports industry by delivering real-time personal performance analysis to those who want it and safety to those who need it," says Snowsports Interactive CEO Steve Kenny.
"Not only can skiers and snowboarders gather information about their performance including speed data but the units can also be used to track individuals around ski resorts providing higher safety standards and peace of mind," he said.
The Australian company is currently completing testing at Sun Peaks, Canada and Mt Buller, here in Australia, and says it will be expanding heavily throughout North America in the coming 12 months.
"With the ski season in the northern hemisphere in full swing and the southern hemisphere coming into winter things are really heating up for us and we will be working hard to roll out more systems so more skiers can experience the Snowsports Interactive difference," Kenny said.
