Monster High Definition TV Calibration Wizard

By Rob Gillam | Thursday | 29/06/2006

Monster and ISF have teamed up to produce a simple video calibration DVD designed for high-definition TVs.

Not to be confused with a next-generation DVD disc (it's in bog-standard SD resolution) the Calibration Wizard is a simple and effective tool for tuning up not only HD TVs, but any TV using factory settings. These are usually optimised to look impressive on a retail floor but more than likely not for your home.

While a long way off from offering the kind of comprehensive tools other ISF calibration DVDs such as Digital Video Essentials do, the HDTV Calibration Wizard does an admirable job of quickly and effectively correcting settings such as contrast, brightness and sharpness by using real-time video demonstrations that all you to make on-they-fly adjustments.

The Monster/ISF HDTV Calibration Wizard DVD is the next best thing to hiring a costly technician to visit your home. The Calibration Wizard uses easy to use live video shots to help you calibrate your TV without complicated test patterns. You will be amazed at the better detail, more realistic picture quality and more accurate black levels and contrast.

"This is the one DVD that will improve all your other DVDs," says Geoff Matthews, Marketing Director at Convoy International (Monster's Australian distributor). "HDTV's are set up "hot" by the manufacturer for display in brightly-lit showrooms. That means that their settings out-of-the-box are not always ideal for home viewing. Blacks can look washed out, whites too bright, details even fuzzy. The fast, affordable fix is the new Monster/ISF Calibration Wizard."

Cost: $69
