  What Constitutes Full HD?

By David Richards | Sunday | 11/11/2007

How could Hitachi which claims to be a leading consumer electronics company get the difference between 1080i and 1080p so wrong? We take a look at what other publishers and consumer electronic companies say on the issue.

A search of the internet reveals site after site describing the difference between 1080i and 1080p.

By David Carnoy Executive editor at CNET Reviews wrote on his site "Every once in a while, when the reader e-mails keep piling up in my in-box, I feel the need to revisit a topic that I've already written about. In this case, the subject is HDTV resolution, and 1080p resolution in particular. This seems to be on everyone's minds as we head into the holiday buying season and we're faced with more HDTV buying choices than ever before. Not a day goes by without someone asking whether they should just buy a "standard" 720p/1080i set or step up and pay the extra bucks for a higher-resolution 1080p set".
