Sony who aim to give away 25,000 Slim PS3 are hoping that they do better than the last time they ran a PS3 giveaway  promotion when only 50% of the allocated total was redeemed in the time available.

The promotion, which launches tomorrow, Thursday 22 October 2009, will only be available on Bravia TV's retailing between $2,199 and RRP $8,499 the Company claims. The move back to using a PS3 as an incentive for consumers to purchase a Bravia LCD TV has been imitated by Sony Australia, in an attempt to revive falling Bravia TV sales in Australia.

Earlier this year, Sony had 32% of the LCD TV market but this fell to 14% in August 2009. During the same period, Samsung share climbed to over 42%.

And in effort to avoid the public relations debacle associated with their first PS3 giveaway promotion, Sony has said that they will have the gaming console shipped out to customer's before Christmas Day.

With their first PS3 promotion last year, consumers were left waiting for months to get their PS3 with various Government Fair Trading bodies stepping in to help consumers get their gaming console.

Yesterday, Sony were out spruiking their Bravia brand in an effort to regain brand confidence after the company was forced to move away from a Sony "Made In Japan" strategy to having to sell Bravia TV's made in part in China and Taiwan.
