Loewe Connects With Networkable LCD TVs

By Manisha Kanetkar | Wednesday | 27/02/2008

Loewe says it is developing the living room of the future with its new Connect range of high definition LCD TVs which are networkable, feature an inbuilt network media player, and an optional built-in hard disk recorder.

Aimed at the tech savvy, design conscious consumer, the Connect range can be hooked up to a PC network, or external hard disk drive to play MP3s, JPEGs and videos. An easy access USB port lets users plug and play a photo slideshow as well.

When the 1920 x 1080 resolution screens are combined with the Connect Media DR+ option, they will also feature an integrated hard disk recorder to record HDTV programmes. (An HD TV receiver is inbuilt in the screens).

Other connectivity options besides Ethernet and USB include VGA, DVI and two HDMIs. A WLAN module also allows easy wireless networking as well, the company claims.

The Loewe Media Player is installed using a dLAN 200 AV adapter, which allows the mains to act as a data transmitter. According to the local distributor of the product, International Dynamics, this method offers a rate of up to 200 MB per second, making it around 70 times faster than a conventional Internet connection. This allows it to be connected to a Media Server PC or a network storage unit without the need for any cables.

The Connect range will be available in three sizes – 32-, 37- and 42-inch models – and a choice of High Gloss White, Silver or High Gloss Black.

Pricing details to follow in April.
