Alpha 350
RRP From $1,399
Most digital SLR (single lens reflex) cameras have been unable to let you frame your photos via an LCD viewer, however the new Alpha has overcome that obstacle, so you don't need to squint through the viewfinder to take shots like a pro. Add excellent construction and build, an easy to navigate interface and image stabilisation tech for a great DSLR.

We loved this camcorder's predecessor – the SD5 – and this one is even better. Firstly it is able to record 1920 x 1080p HD footage (as opposed to 1080i) and secondly it comes bundled with 32GB of flash memory. And if you're really camera-happy you can burn your movies to DVD via the included DVD burner. With HDMI and plenty of proprietary image technologies in-built, you get a very well rounded video camera.
