During his senate estimates grilling, Senator Conroy also claimed that opposition attempts to disrupt the live and ongoing commercial tender for the National Broadband Network (NBN) threaten to undermine the competitive process.
"It is of critical importance that integrity and confidentiality is maintained to ensure the NBN process delivers the best possible outcome for Australia. It is not appropriate for the Government to conduct a running commentary on a live commercial process," Senator Conroy said.
Senator Conroy also refused to further elaborate on the progress of the NBN says, "…I do not propose to make any comments or answer any questions about the process in the current Senate Estimates hearing…"
"After presiding over 18 failed broadband plans over 11 years, the Opposition now wants to undermine Australians' access to first-class broadband", he said.
However, Senator Conroy also did not offer any concrete evidence that amounted to an attempted scuttling of the NBN by the coalition opposition.
