WIRELESS & NETWORKING / INDUSTRY

  Netgear DIY Home Networking

By Manisha Kanetkar | Thursday | 10/05/2007

Wireless and networking specialist Netgear will be showing off its latest wireless gear in a working digital home setup at the Sydney Home Show in a bid to demonstrate how easy it is to set up a connected home.

Included is the company's Digital Entertainer HD (EVA8000 RRP: $689) which allows you to stream HD video from the Internet and music or photos stored on a PC to your high definition television. Also on show is its Wireless-N range including the RangeMax Next wireless router, notebook adapter, access point and Gigabit Edition router.

The Storage Central (SC101 RRP: $199) will also be incorporated into the working "digital home" and the soon-to-be-released Storage Central Turbo will be there also. The latter will enable you to access files, video and music at Gigabit speeds, Netgear says.

And no digital home is complete without a VoIP phone – Netgear will have its Skype WiFi phone (SPH101 RRP:$369) on display as well as its upcoming Dual-Mode cordless phone with Skype.

One of SmartHouse's favourite new technologies is the Powerline Ethernet Adapter – which uses electrical wiring to extend your home network. Netgear offers the include the HDXB101 Powerline HD 200Mbps Ethernet Adapter Kit (RRP: $429) which includes two Powerline HD 200Mbps Ethernet Adapters.
