Belkin Launches ADSL2+ Wireless Modem Router

By Manisha Kanetkar | Thursday | 01/03/2007

Based on the draft 802.11n specification, the new N1 Modem-Router from Belkin is ADSL2+ enabled, letting you distribute large files through your network in a breeze, the company says.

The Modem-Router will allow wireless speeds of up to 270Mbps, Belkin claims, though the company advises you to use the device with the Belkin N1 Notebook and Desktop Cards connecting your client computers. (Though the company said it has tested for interoperability with other vendor products)

N1 Wireless enables multiple receivers and transmitters to send and receive data through the air, using MIMO (Multiple Input Multiple Output) spatial multiplexing techniques. It allows you to share your broadband ADSL connection wirelessly while simultaneously streaming HD video, listening to digital music, playing online games or transferring photos and home videos, for example.

The device has been designed for easy setup and troubleshooting with the Network Status Display, whereby designated icons represent each component of your network and show you whether or not each device is working properly.

You can also add up to 32 computers to your wireless network with additional notebook and desktop adapters, Belkin says.

RRP: $399.95
