SEATTLE - The horse has already bolted when it comes to public use of the upcoming Google Glass gadget, with a Seattle bar banning the glasses already. Google Glass is an Android-powered augmented reality device that, among other - and possibly more sinister - features, allows wearers to track and take pictures of what or who they're looking at, merely by talking to their shades: seen by many as a threat to people's privacy.

Others have suggested the possibility of software that would allow wearers to "undress" people they're looking at, in the manner of some airport body scanners.

However, Seattle's 5 Point Café, like many other bars and restaurants in the US, has ruled that any guest who insists on wearing a Google Glass while on the premises will simply be asked to leave - pronto.

" The 5 Point is the first Seattle business to ban in advance Google Glasses. And ass-kickings will be encouraged for violators," reads a post by 5 Point Café on its Facebook page.

A Google spokesman said: "It is still very early days for Glass, and we expect that as with other new technologies - such as cell phones - behaviours and social norms will develop over time."
