Dick Smith which last week opened the first of 30 new Move stores is tipped to be looking at selling appliances.
It is not known whether they will be sold in Dick Smith Home stores or a new chain of stores designed to give consumers an appliance experience similar to what the group is doing to consumer electronics with itsMove stores.
Last month Dick Smith executives attended the IFA trade show in Europe where they met with several appliance manufacturers.
The Company has not commented officially about its appliance strategy.
Earlier this year JB Hi Fi expanded its range of appliances with the opening of new JB Hi Fi Home stores.
Several manufacturers have told ChannelNews that if Dick Smith does move into selling appliances it could strip additional business away from Harvey Norman which is struggling to hold onto its consumer electronics business due to competition from JB Hi Fi and Dick Smith.
