Hisense To Launch Slick Android TV With Chrome & Playstore

By David Richards | Wednesday | 08/01/2014

Hisense Australia has confirmed the release of a new Android TV; the device will be marketed as Vision Series TV across their entire Ultra High Definition, Curved TV and Premium LED TV range.

In a hand on demonstration at CES SmartHouse was able to instantly access a Chrome browser as well as the Google Play Store. According to Andre Iannuzzi Marketing Manager at Hisense Australia the new range will also include a real time content streaming service that allows users to get access to the latest movies delivered by Google and a yet to be announced Australian content provider.

In the USA the Chinese TV Company is calling its TV software Vidaa, which is content-ready with a single push of a button.

According to Iannuzzi pricing for the Australian Android based TV's have not been set however he did say "We will be completive across our entire range whether it be 4K or our Curved TV range".

Users will be able to instantly access Google Search, Google Chrome and the Google PrimeTime app.

The Google TV rebranding to Android TV looks slicker in this iteration and still retains the valued Google PrimeTime app, something that's not possible on Google's own Chromecast currently.

"A big benefit with the Android Vision series is that the software is easy to navigate and users will get access to the latest movies which will be constantly updated" said Iannuzzi.

The new Hisense content management system is powered by Android 4.2.2, the TV's have an ARMADA 1500 PLUS HD Media processor built into the system.

The TV has 1GB of RAM and 8GB of ROM. The remote has 30 keys, a built-in air mouse with IQQI Smart Input and voice search functionality.
