Samsung Showcases Extended Notebook Lineup

Samsung has announced the launch its latest notebook lineup at the CES in Las Vegas. The new series are intended to provide the perfect platform for viewing HD video, managing digital music, editing photos and playing games.

The 80 series is designed for viewing movies, with a Blu-ray optical drive included in the R480 and R580. The R580 and the R780 also both feature an nVIDIA GeForce graphics card. The displays are HD LED backlit, and the machine runs on Intel's Core i5 430M processor and contains a 500 GB hard drive. 

The 30 series is designed more with gaming in mind, with Intel's Core 2 Duo T6600 processor, a 320 GB hard drive, 4 GB DDR3 and Intel's GMA 4500MHD graphics card.

"With Samsung's new notebook models, we're excited to deliver a both stylish design and high performance," said Todd Bouman director of product marketing at Samsung Electronics Information Technology Division. "Combining a range of wireless connectivity options and LED backlit displays, these products are ideal to be used both as mobile devices as well as desktop replacements for all-day use."

The notebooks are expected to be available in the US from March this year.
