A major competitor to the recently launched Foxtel Presto, the Google Chromecast has just got an update with an Australian launch tipped to be only days away.

Google Chromecast Tipped For OZ Launch This Week
The update adds support for over 50 languages on the Android version and 20 on the iOS version as the device readies a wider launch. This supports previous information that Chromecast would be expanding after news surfaced in February about a possible March release date in Australia.

JB Hi Fi staff have confirmed to SmartHouse that a launch of Chromecast is due soon and that the device will be sub $40 with some insiders tipping a lunch this week.

Chromecast can be plugged into a PC USB port it also works with devices such as Android tablets and smartphones, iPhones, iPads, Chrome for Mac and Chrome for Windows.

Users can browse for what to watch, control playback, and adjust volume using the device, you also get access to similar content to what Foxtel is offering with their new Presto service.

The news comes not long after Sundar Pichai, Senior Vice President for Google who oversees Chrome, said during SXSW that the streamer would be coming to "many more countries" in as little as a few weeks according to The Next Web. He also offered that Chromecast has sold millions of units since its introduction, but offered no concrete sales figures.

In addition to adding more language support the update also addressed bug fixes, added additional settings and improved support on Android powered Samsung devices.
