Garmin has taken the wraps off two new products in the form of its Virb Ultra 30 ultra-HD 4K action camera and Forerunner 35 GPS-enabled running watch.

Garmin Unveils 4K Action Cam And GPS Running WatchThe Virb Ultra 30 shoots ultra-HD footage at 4K/30 fps, securing slow motion video at 720p/240 fps, and captures still photos using 12 MP.

"Conveniently small and lightweight, the Virb Ultra 30 is rugged and ready for adventure with purpose-built features for users to tailor and relive their action-packed Virb footage," Garmin states.

"Thanks to its high-precision sensors and GPS, the action camera automatically gathers meaningful G-Metrix data to show how far, how high and how fast users live their adventures."

Garmin states that "3-axis image stabilisation maintains steady footage regardless of the terrain", with the Virb Ultra 30 also decked out with a high-sensitivity microphone and an LCD colour touchscreen (designed
to work in and out of a waterproof case).

The Virb Ultra 30 is also decked out with Sensory TrulyHandsfree voice control, with users able to employ commands such as "Ok Garmin, start recording," or "Ok Garmin, remember that", tagging specific moments.

The free Garmin Virb app, meanwhile, allows users to share HD videos in real-time, streaming live to YouTube, and upload videos to sites such as Facebook and Garmin Connect Share, also transforming smartphones or tablets into Wi-Fi remote controls, while Virb Edit desktop editing software provides a range of options.

The Virb Ultra 30 ships with a complimentary waterproof case (up to 40 metres), with it available this month, priced at $699 RRP.

Forerunner 35

The Forerunner 35 sports built-in Garmin Elevate wrist-based heart rate technology, allowing runners to monitor their heart rate 24/7 without a chest strap, with Garmin stating that its "updated sleek design features a new high-resolution display with amazing contrast, perfect for indoor and outdoor viewing alike".

Along with running, it features sport profiles including indoor running, walking, cycling and cardio activities.

"Stylish and lightweight, it's comfortable for all-day wear and seamlessly transitions from a run to an everyday activity tracker and smartwatch," Garmin states. "Its battery life is up to nine days in watch/activity tracking mode, and up to 13 hours in training mode."

The Forerunner 35 tracks distance, pace and personal records, while built-in GPS allows runners to track how far, how fast and where they're running, while as an all-day activity tracker it counts steps, calories and intensity minutes.

It features vibration alerts for running prompts, activity tracking milestones and virtual pacing progress, while vibration alerts can also be set up for incoming calls, text, emails and calendar events, with other connected features including music controls, automatic uploads and software updates.

The Forerunner 35 automatically syncs with the Garmin Connect Mobile app, saving user stats to a free account in the Garmin Connect online fitness community, while runners can also use the app to share their workouts in real time with LiveTrack, join fitness challenges, analyse training progress, and set and track goals.

Garmin states that the Forerunner 35 is expected to be available this month, priced at $299 RRP, available in black, limelight, frost blue and white.
