Sony Sell 1M PS4 (In 24 HRS)

By Oonagh Reidy | Monday | 18/11/2013

Sony sells one million Playstation's, 24 hours after it went on sale in US, Canada

PS4 will be available in OZ on 29 November.

However, local retailers are already predicting there will be shortage of both PS4 and Xbox One this Christmas.

Priced at RRP $549, PlayStation4 will be sold in bundles in OZ until 31 December, including Killzone Shadow Fall PS4 bundle or Knack PS4, for $599.

Most pre-ordered PS4 are already sold out, JB Hi-Fi Scott Browning told CN, who predicted shortages, "something which a lot of people don't realise. Pre-ordered consoles are also about to run out".

There's similar problems overseas, so ordering online from international sites won't help. Games may also be constrained due to console shortages, he said.

The retailer is taking pre-orders but is charging $10 to do so.

"PS4 was designed with an unwavering commitment to gamers, and we are thrilled that consumer reaction has been so phenomenal," said Andrew House Group CEO, Sony Computer Entertainment US.

"Sales remain very strong in North America, and we expect continued enthusiasm as we launch the PlayStation 4 in Europe and Latin America on November 29."

The giant are predicting 5 million sales by early March 2014,  although analysts are less bullish predicting 3 million consoles will be sold.

Shortages for Microsoft Xbox One is also predicted.

But Jack Tretton, CEO of Sony U.S. computer entertainment  remains confident Sony can deliver its sales target of 5 million PS4's, despite predicted shortages of highly anticipated game.

"This is a marathon, not a sprint, but getting out to a nice start is a good thing," he told Bloomberg

"That hurdle has been cleared. We're very, very confident we're in great shape."
