As the next instalment in the Call of Duty franchise nears (and by nears, we mean four months away), Treyarch is slowly revealing subtle details that are building hype and intrigue. So far we know it will lend itself to sci-fi dystopia, set in a 2025 world riddled with autonomous weaponry, but today something far more intriguing was revealed: the villain.
The antagonist in Black Ops II is Raul Menendez, an 'insidious mastermind hell bent on global insurrection.' The aptly titled 'villain trailer' keeps keen gamers on their toes by concealing his identity with silhouettes and vilifying him through third person narration:
People in America idolise him. They'll wake up tomorrow and realise that their hero has wiped them out.
Nearing the trailer's end, war veteran Frank Woods—who loyal COD fans will remember from the original Black Ops—confronts Menendez face to face. Check it out for yourself.
