The new firmware fix has seen the introduction of a new user interface that helps with playback of local files, also fixed are problems associated with 3D viewing in the on-screen display.
Despite these fixes an additional upgrade is expected before the year is out says D Link.
Once updated, users will be able to tailor the Boxee Box based on whether they mostly access online or local files. An SMB client default was added in Network Settings, and users can now connect to hidden wireless networks or those with special characters in their WPA codes.
There are more filter and sort options, quicker navigation in long lists and the ability to mark movies as watched. Reported crashes from uncommon video files or other causes have also been addressed with this firmware.
Launched less than a month ago the Boxee is stuggling in the Australian market due in part to a lack of local content which is available for US owners.
