Yamaha Reveals Two New Network Optimised Receivers

By Tony Ibrahim | Tuesday | 02/08/2011

Yahamaha have released two additional network capable receivers to their range, the RX-V771 and the RX-V871.

The RX-V771 is the first offering 7.2 channels and is the first in the '71 series to do so.

The '71's new sibling is the RX-V871 which delivers powerful connectivity through a network receiver, two additional HDMI inputs, 8 in/2 out HDMI with 3D and ARC compatibility, and will also manage the simultaneous connection of home AV components.

Each receiver has an easily accessible HDMI receiver on the front panel, with another on the back, facilitating two simultaneous displays if need be. This makes it easier to alternate from one device (such as a TV) to another (like a projector), without having to intricate yourself in rear cabling.

The two new receivers are compatible with YAMAHA's iOS controller app, and can connect to your home network to access music remotely, from a PC, Mac or Network Attached Storage (NAS) device. Managing playback music is easy with familiar control gestures aiding music navigation.

Each receiver offers what Yamaha calls 'Zone 2' function. At the press of a button, Zone 2 allows for music to be played in different parts of the home, with users being able to manage volume independently, from one room to the next.

Another interesting feature is Yamaha's Parametric Acoustic Optimiser (YPAO) technology, which monitors up to eight different points in a room and analyses their acoustic qualities. Through acoustic analysis it will produce sound optimised for larger audiences, taking into consideration room size and shape.

The RX-V771 has a RRP of $1,299, with its RX-V781 sibling retailing for $1,499.

Alternatively the RX-V771 can be purchased as part of the 7.2 YHT-1096AU home theatre package for $3,999.
