'World's First': Telstra Nab Toshiba 4G Ultrabook-Tab

Telstra are launching Toshiba 4G Ultrabook-Tablet - Portege Z10t - from 11 June, as the telco enters the Ultrabook market.

The Portege Z10t is Australia's first Windows 8 Pro tablet running on faster 4G service - to access email, cloud-hosted apps, documents at speeds 'typically reserved for the office', says Telstra.

It will be exclusive to Telstra for three months from launch.

The 11.6" Full HD (1920 x 1080), LED touch display Z10t Ultrabook transforms into a tablet via its detachable keyboard dock. Inside is a powerful Intel Core i5 processor, Intel HD Graphics 4000, 4GB RAM memory and 128GB solid state drive storage.

Windows applications, email, calendars and Office documents can be integrated between home/office.

The Portege Z10t marks an "exciting new era" in mobile products for Telstra, said Anthea Roberts, Director Mobile Broadband.

"The convergence of the tablet and laptop meets the growing demand for mobile devices that keep customers both productive and entertained,"

The device is ultra portable so handy on the move - the tablet measures 16.9mm and weighs 850g.

It also has stereo speakers, HD Webcam for Skype calls, HDMI connection, and 2x USB Ports (1x USB 3.0 + 1x USB 2.0) on the keyboard dock, Toshiba's PC Health Monitor to diagnose problems.

Telstra is offering Portege Z10t on two options

The Z10t is available on consumer tablet plans/ Business tablet plans for $90 per month (including $50 Plan + $40 device) with 8GB of data (0.61c/MB) over 24 months.

You can also get the hybrid PC on Telstra Entertainer Max bundle, which includes 200 GB of home internet, 500MB of mobile broadband, T-Box, Foxtel on T-Box Get Started package and home phone for $185 per month over 24 months.

However, this is not available in all areas.

"The Portege Z10t running on the Telstra Mobile Network is the perfect solution for people who don't want to juggle multiple devices," said Mark Whittard, Toshiba Managing Director.

"This is why we developed the Z10t - to eradicate the choices and offer one device to suit every need."

The Toshiba PC is Telstra's 29th 4G LTE product and comes just days after it switched on its 1,500th 4G base station.
