By Oonagh Reidy | Tuesday | 17/09/2013

World's lightest Ultrabook now has red hues

Sony's high spec notebook, VAIO Pro 13, has a Full HD TRILUMINOS (1920 x 1080) touchscreen, runs Windows 8 and is powered by an Intel Core i7 gen processor.

Vaio Pro 13 was released in black earlier this year. The touch PC made of extra durable carbon fibre weighs just 1.06kg,

But they're not cheap - starting at $2999. There's also a Vaio Duo tablet come Ultrabook red edition coming soon.

CN saw these new Windows 8 Vaio's at an Intel event recently and found them to be stunning devices - probably one of the nicest on the Windows 8 platform so far.

Vaio Pro is the first notebook to include a high speed 512GB PCIe SSD. It also has a full-size backlit and full-pitch keyboard, track pad and instant PC resume technology, in keeping with the Ultrabook ethos, and smart multitasking moving between applications speedily by Intel Hyper-Threading Technology.

Other multimedia specs include:  X-Reality for better video quality, ClearAudio+ mode, 8MP camera with Sony Exmor RSsensor, NFC pairs it with other devices to each exchange content, enables Bluetooth by tapping devices together.

Software wise, the 13.3" Sony has ArtRage Studio, digital arts software (simulate real-world art instruments - such as  paintbrushes, oils, watercolours and pencils)  and VAIO Movie Creator for video creation.

Sony's VAIO Pro 13 | red edition hits late September at SRP $2,999 from Sony Store only.

Sony says it is raising the bar for the VAIO brand with red edition The signature red finish is achieved by a variety of painting techniques on different materials, including carbon fibre and aluminium. Multiple paint layers are individually applied and hand-polished and a protective UV coating creates an extra vibrant sheen with gorgeous depth and richness.

"Sony has a tradition of designing products built on passion and innovation," said Jun Yoon, Marketing Manager, Network Entertainment at Sony Australia.

"The new VAIO Pro 13 | red edition is the ultimate in superior PC technology and ensures VAIO users truly experience a level of quality that exceeds expectations. Nothing matches the inspiring look and sheer presence of the VAIO Pro 13 | red edition"
