Acer Chromebook Part II Is $100 More

AS HP throws its hat into the Chromebook ring, Acer go for Part II- for $100 more

But Acer has made some improvements to justify the price.  

For $100 more (RRP $399), Acer's new C720 Chromebook sports an improved chip in the form of Intel Haswell Celeron 2955U, a better battery life 8.5 hrs, and is more anorexic than the previous Chromebook, released in April. 

The11.6-inch ComfyView HD 1366x768 display with with anti-glare good for using in the sun. It has also has improved  Crystal Eye HD webcam, dual speakers, 16GB Solid State Drive, and up to 4GB of DDR3 RAM. 

At 1.47kg and is only 19.05mm thin its 30% thinner than the original Acer Chromebook.

Acer says the power of Intel Haswell  processors, makes it faster Chromebook than competitors (which include Samsung), boots in under 7 seconds and resumes nearly instantly from sleep mode. 

Storage is on Google Drive in the cloud, so you can access files offline, open and edit MS Office docs as well as Google Documents. 

Acer says Chromebook are good for school goers and surfing on the web at home  

The second gen light PC has a Kensington lock to secure them to a classroom or mobile cart.

Connectivity wise, it has1 X USB 3.0, 1 X USB 2.0 port, HDMI, a 2 in 1 card reader and a 3.5mm audio jack.  

The $399 Chromebook  is Bluetooth 4.0 compatible and has 802.11 a/b/g/n Wi-Fi, as well as entertainment, fitness and social apps.

It is available this month from Acer Store, JB Hi-Fi, Harvey Norman.
