  Karaoke On Your iPod

By Manisha Kanetkar | Tuesday | 20/02/2007

If you have a private (or public) penchant for karaoke that you wish to combine with your love for your iPod; the doPi Karaoke system could be the solution.

The system itself includes a converter, mic and all the cables as well as a song card providing your first three karaoke song downloads (from the doPi website) for free. It works with any iPod or MP3 player, but you will need a video iPod or another portable video player to stream the synchronised song lyrics.

Complementing the system is a number of karaoke video files available through www.dopikaraoke.com which are available for download for $US1.99.

Basically, you need to sign on to the website, follow the instructions for purchasing the songs – which are available in two formats. The video songs include streaming synchronized lyrics, music track and background vocals. The audio songs contain the music track and background vocals.

Then you simply add the songs to iTunes, sync to your player, plug in the headphones (select ‘TV Off' on your iPod) and view the lyrics from the screen.

Unfortunately, the karaoke system is not available in Australia at the moment, but you can still download the karaoke tunes from the website – to enjoy a more private karaoke experience.  (Which may be a good thing!)
