RSPCA Says iPond Cruelty To Animals

By Sarah Falson | Monday | 17/12/2007

Activists have called to ban a tiny fish tank with built-in speakers which sells in Australian pet shops.
The $70 device allows users to play their iPod tunes through a speaker built-into the bottom of the fish tank, which holds on 650 millilitres of water.

Sold in Pets Paradise and Pets Goods Direct chains, Siamese fighting fish are typically bundled with the tank.

However, the tank is up to 15 times smaller than the recommended tank size for these fish, sparking outrage with the RSPCA, according to a report from SMH.com.au

A spokesperson for the Melbourne aquarium told SMH.com.au that Siamese fighting fish required a minimum tank size of 10 litres.
