The new NWZ-B130F series will be available in 1GB and 2GB capacities and will only cost $49 and $69 respectively. On the other hand, Apple's iPod Shuffle currently costs $69 for the 1GB and $89 for its 2GB model.
According to Sony, the NWZ-B130F comes in four different colours, will have features such as voice and FM recording, FM tuning, as well as MP3 and DRM-protected music playback. The unit also comes with a "Bass" button that enhances the bass elements of the music played by 100Hz.
This new Walkman will last up to 16 hours of continuous music playback and has a Rapid Recharge function that provides 90 minutes of music playback with a three minute charge.
Sony Australia's Personal Audio Product Manager, Suzanna Gan said, "The new NWZ-B130F series are a convenient, easy to use range of highly portable MP3 players that combine great battery life with the very best sound quality that sets Sony's Walkman products apart from the market. Rapid recharge, simple Drag ‘n Drop music transfer, one touch bass enhancer and PlaysForSure compatibility are just some of the features that make this range a highly competitive offering at the entry level of the MP3 player market."
