  Sony Unveils Bluetooth Video Walkman

By SmartHouse Team | Wednesday | 14/05/2008

The latest range of Walkman portable media players includes a limited edition model which features Bluetooth wireless technology.

The Bluetooth player (NWZ-A826KB) lets you stream stereo music from the Walkman to other Bluetooth-enabled audio devices (such as sound systems). The player comes with a set of Street-Style Bluetooth headphones.

Also new to the Walkman line-up are the A720 light-weight players which come in 4GB, 8GB and 16GB varieties. Sporting a 2.4-inch LCD screen that lets you view images and videos in either horizontal or vertical view, the players come in black, white, pink and gold, and claim a battery life of up 10 hours of video and 36 hours of music.

"Sony's new line-up of Walkman MP3 players offer customers the very finest in sound quality technology combined with a stylish design that defines portability. It is now possible to choose a Walkman MP3 player that best suits your lifestyle, be it an enhanced video viewing experience on a large LCD screen, or wireless usability," said Sony Australia Personal Audio Product Manager Suzanna Gan.

The range incorporates proprietary Sony technologies for clearer audio and bass with minimised distortion.

The players support P3, non-secure AAC, WMA (including security enhanced WMA), linear PCM, JPEG, AVC (H.264/AVC), Baseline Profile and MPEG-4 file formats.  Windows Media Player 11 comes supplied with the devices, which are available in from June.

RRP: from $199
