iTunes A Cool Place To Hang Out

By Wire Service | Wednesday | 08/03/2006

The iTunes site is one of those rare places where you can hang out a couple of times a week and choose music or a video to relax.

Constantly being updated with the latest releases Apple has recently released updates to iTunes and iPhoto. If you're using a Mac that has Front Row installed, you'll also find an update for that. The updates are available for download through the Software Update system preference pane, and they can also be downloaded from Apple's Downloads Web page.

iPhoto 6.0.2 corrects "several minor issues" associated with playing shared slideshows in Front Row; iTunes 6.0.4 "addresses stability and performance issues" associated with Front Row.

The new version of Front Row is 1.2.1. Apple says that the update "improves compatibility with iTunes and iPhoto sharing."

On stage at Apple's Town Hall on Tuesday, Apple CEO Steve Jobs offered attendees the first look at the new version of Front Row, Apple's multimedia player software in coordination with the public introduction of the Intel-based Mac mini.

Front Row is Apple's multimedia player software. It enables viewers to listen to music, view iPhoto albums and slideshows, and watch music videos, movies and television shows on their Macs, all in full-screen mode, using a wireless remote control and a simple interface to navigate the multimedia contents of the computer.

New to this version of Front Row is the ability to watch shared iPhoto content, listen to shared iTunes music and watch shared videos on Macs that are on the same wired or wireless network, using Apple's Bonjour zero-configuration networking technology.
