Apple Rolls Out New iPod Touch But Still No iPhone

By Mendelson Tiu | Wednesday | 06/02/2008

Apple has released a new iPod Touch with double the memory of its predecessor at 32GB. The company has also dropped the price of its 16GB and 8GB Touch models, but remains tight-lipped about the possibility of an iPhone for the Australian market.

The new 32GB iPod Touch was also launched today in the US, however it was accompanied by the launch of a new 16GB iPhone. There is still no word of when we can expect the iPhone in Australia.

The new iPod Touch 32GB will be priced in Australia at an RRP of $629, joining the 16GB and 8GB that now come with a price of $499 (from $549) and $399 (from $419), respectively.

Apple's Vice President of Worldwide iPod Product Marketing, Greg Joswiak said, "For some users, there's never enough memory. Now people can enjoy even more of their music, photos and videos on the most revolutionary Wi-Fi mobile device in the world."

The iPod touch features a multi-touch user interface that allows a user to find all their music, videos, and photos with just a touch of their finger. The new iPod touch models will also include the latest software enhancements announced last month including the ability to create Web Clips for your favourite websites and customise your home screen. It will also come pre-installed with the Safari web browser and various applications including Mail, Maps, Stocks, Weather and Notes.

RRP:

Apple iPod Touch 32GB: $629
Apple iPod Touch 16GB: $499
Apple iPod Touch 8GB: $399
