Apple e-mailed reporters an invitation to a September 9 event entitled "Let's Rock," which has an image of a man jumping in the air while listening to an iPod, with the words "playing soon", according to the report.

It has been forecast that Apple will sell nearly 11 million iPods in its September quarter.

As for a new MacBook, most IT pundits are predicting a new line of the popular Apple laptop to be out by November at the latest.
