PURE Adds Visual Entertainment To Sensia

By Marie Jones | Wednesday | 21/07/2010

Radio manufacturer, PURE, has added a visual entertainment to its digital radio offering, and launched DAB+slideshow following the Australian launch of digital radio last year, and a free photo sharing Picasa app.

DAB+ slideshow adds a new dimension to radio listening, synchronising visual imagery to radio broadcasts, allowing listeners to tune into their favourite digital radio stations and see slides showing the latest news grabs, competions, view photos of presenters and artists, and a host of other information.

"Sensia gives users a unique way of interacting with radio and Internet content. DAB+ slideshow is the first of many new consumer features scheduled in 2010 for this model, which not only reinforces the Sensia as a 'living product', but a convergent device taking radio entertainment to the next level," says Graeme Redman, Managing Director of PURE Australia.

"In short, Sensia is destined to do for radio, what the iPhone has done for the mobile phone. PURE will be releasing an SDK (Software Developers Kit) later this year to enable third party developers to build apps for this new visual platform in radio," he said.

In addition, PURE has also added a fourth app for the Sensia.

The Picasa app, using free photo editing and sharing software from Google, allows users to view photos they have uploaded to Picasa Web Albums without switching on their computer. Users can log into their Picasa account on Sensia and view a slideshow of their photos from a list of albums either on Sensia's visual panel or full screen.

Redman said:" Sensia releases you from the shackles of your computer and fosters a more family friendly way of interacting with content."

The Picasa app joins Twitter, Facebook and weather apps on the Sensia digital radio and is available as a free software download.
